Volunteer Spotlight, Carol Brown
Carol contributes her time and talents as a volunteer naturalist at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. She excels when she can interact with park visitors by providing educational program opportunities.
If you’ve participated in a guided hike, educational program or event at the park, chances are you’ve met Carol! Working closely with park staff, she helps plan, coordinate and conduct educational programs at the park. When guiding a program, Carol compels her audience to think and draw their own conclusions.
Carol’s passion for park programs runs so deep that when she’s not at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park you’ll find her volunteering at nearby William “Billy Joe” Rish Recreation Area and St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge.
“The best volunteer positions offer an opportunity to be a valued and appreciated member of a team with goals that matter to staff and volunteers,” Carol says. “Volunteers at the Florida State Park system can spend time and effort where they are needed most, where they can use the life skills they already possess while learning new ones. Volunteers and staff work together to contribute to ideals they are passionate about. Within the Florida State Park system, the need is great, the opportunities wide and the cause is just.
