Park Ranger, Andrew Hughes
When he was growing up, Andrew was fortunate enough to have his father take him hunting and fishing. This is when he fell in love with the outdoors, and he still spends much of his free time canoeing and camping, looking for waterfowl when the migration moves in.
You’ll often find him watching the turkeys in the springtime or as a buck sheds its velvet in late summer or early fall. Working as a park ranger was a natural fit, allowing Andrew to pursue his passion for the outdoors while increasing his knowledge of it.
Andrew has been with the Florida Park Service for three years now, starting in 2017 as a part-time park ranger at Silver Springs State Park. In 2018 he was promoted to a full-time position and spent the next two years working and learning at Silver Springs.
In April of 2020, Andrew decided to take a ranger position at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.
While he has been at Stephen Foster only for a short time, he finds the park and its people amazing to work with, and he looks forward to the years to come.
