Long, warm summer days at Savannas Preserve State Park are enjoyed by wildlife and visitors alike. Find shade at our Walton Road canoe launch pavilions and soak in the sparkling freshwater marsh. Dotted in the water are wading birds galore, including the majestic great blue heron and the gallinule, hopping from lily pad to lily pad.
Lucky are those who witness a sunbathing alligator or an elusive snake. Take a hike or bike ride along our miles of blazed trails and you’ll likely see gopher tortoises snacking on foliage before taking refuge in their cool burrows.
Equestrian visitors should call ahead for access to our designated parking lot, located off Scenic View Drive for access to the north end trails. Our Jensen Beach Boulevard and Hawks Bluff entrances provide shorter loop trails, still teeming with wonderful views and wildlife. Access to the north fork of the St. Lucie River can be found at our Evans Creek entrance. You will find an ADA accessible kayak launch and detailed maps of the river.
Whichever park entrance you choose, please keep in mind that facilities and amenities are limited. Plan to bring plenty of water and sun protection. Maps and emergency numbers are located on kiosks at all locations.
